The concept of Mega Man Teams was created in the late 1990's. Mega Man Teams are websites co-managed by eight or so people who roleplay as the bosses from a particular Mega Man game. Teams are designated by the game they're based around (for example, I've mentioned Critical Mass, the Mega Man X5 Team, a lot). The main focus of the sites would be the epilogues stories which take place after the game in question and detail the bosses' lives and adventures after their defeat in-game. However, not every epilogue is connected directly to the game, so crossovers with other game series and references to real-life news or celebrities are pretty common.
Epilogues aren't the only thing a team does, however they're just the staple of all teams, but plenty of teams try to do extra. A lot of teams feature artists, spriters, site encoders and more actually, sprites in epilogues are such a common thing that almost every team needs a good spriter now. There's a lot of need for artists and web designers, so if you're interested...
Only one team exists per game, but not all games have teams dedicated to them. Also, it's not very common for two teams to have the same members, and in fact, that's usually avoided (so games based around the first four classic Game Boy games don't exist since their bosses are mostly recycled from the NES games the only exception is the Technological Tyrants, the Mega Man & Bass Team, featuring a Tengu Man and an Astro Man, both of whom first appeared in Mega Man 8).
We like getting new members in the team scene, even when we don't have a lot of open spots. We've been a small community all along and it feels great when we get new people into it. So if anyone's interested, I've got a bunch of links for you to check out.
Mega Man The Sinister Six
The very first team, led by the late Gary Martin as Ice Man. It's no longer active, but all its work has been archived.
Mega Man 2 Wily's Warriors
A completely insane team led by Starnik as Quick Man. They've recently recovered from a site move-induced hiatus and are working hard and producing new content fast.
Mega Man 4 Cossack's Comrades
In Soviet Russia, epilogue read you! No seriously, these guys aren't as active now, but they still have a lot of work to their name and are one of the oldest teams still standing, having been founded in 2002. The leader and only original member is Anime Master, as Drill Man.
Mega Man 7 Drastic Measures
Crazy shit's goin' down here all the time. Led by Dawshox/Shadowstrike as Turbo Man.
Mega Man X2 Code: Island Attackers
Led by Rebel40000 as a four-armed ninja bug (Magna Centipede), this team is one of the most active ones today. They've never really lost their momentum and have produced a lot of different work over the five years they've been active.
Mega Man X5 Critical Mass
Here we are, darlings. My own team, Critical Mass. This is the one I've plugged the most, and I lead it as Mattrex. It's a lot newer than these other teams, though; I only started it in January 2008, but I like to think it's been growing fast. Feel free to check it out.
Mega Man X6 The Reploid Rebellion
Another team that I'm on, this time as Infinity Mijinion. (I'm on four teams, actually, but two of them are still under development.
Mega Man StarForce COSMOS
Started around the same time as Critical Mass, this team was also our first affiliate and we're good friends with a lot of the members. It's led by Avi as Geminæ Spark.
Non-Team Site Links
Mega Man Teams United
The central hub for most Mega Man Teams, and a great place to introduce yourself to the community. Come in, don't be shy.
Kingdom of Neo Arcadia
While not directly connected to the team scene, this Mega Man RPG has a lot of members that are otherwise involved in the team scene, so it's another good place to get to know people.

Well, I hope this helps people. C'mon in and have fun!
